How do LEDs work?

LEDs are Light Emitting Diodes, a kind of energy saving light bulb. Using new technology, where the bulb passes an electric current through the semiconductor, LEDs produce light while saving more energy.

Are LED strip lights energy efficient?

LED light bulbs are known for their energy-efficiency compared to traditional incandescent lighting. Classic light bulbs convert just 5% of their energy into light and the rest is spent in heat, whereas LED bulbs work more efficiently to produce 90% of their energy in light. This means that LED strip lights will save you money on energy bills while also helping the environment.

Why should I switch to LED strip lights?

LED lighting is incredibly energy-efficient, which means using LED strip lights will help the environment and save you money at the same time. They also last longer than traditional incandescent lighting at around 50,000 hours, meaning you’ll save even more money on replacement bulbs in the long run, and they produce far less heat. Our LED strip lights are all of the highest quality, guaranteed to give you the lighting you desire.

How long will my LED strip lights last?

LED lighting is incredibly long-lasting, providing you with light for anything between 50,000 and 100,000 hours compared to the 1,000 hours of incandescent lighting. LED strip lights use the same technology and, depending on how often you use it, will last you for many years.

Will LED strip lights save me money?

Because they are so energy-efficient, LED strip lights will save you money on your energy bills, and their reliability and durability mean that replacing worn-out bulbs and lighting will potentially be a thing of the past.

Can I cut LED strip lighting?

All strip lights can be cut every 2 inches or 4 inches depending on the product, so you just have to cut the ribbon on the line in between copper dots. You can then reconnect your strip lighting using a quick connector or with the use of a good-quality soldering iron.

Will my LED strip lights get hot?

No. LED lighting converts far more of its energy into light than traditional lighting methods, meaning that they produce far less heat and remain cool while operating.

Why do my LED strip lights get dimmer?

This is known as voltage drop. If your strip lights are getting dimmer as they move away from the power source, it may mean that you need a larger power supply to fuel your strip lights effectively. You will notice voltage drop at around 25 feet, so to avoid the problem you should split your strip lights at less than 25 feet or add another power supply every 25 feet.

What power supply would I need to run my LED strip lights?

You will need to buy an equivalent VDC power supply with your strip lights, and then you must multiply the entire length you are planning on lighting by the watts per foot of your chosen product. Then, add a 15% cushion and you will have determined the amount of power supply you’ll need to light our strip lights. In addition, a transformer will ensure that the power is running at a suitable voltage, avoiding any potential problems.

How flexible are LED strip lights?

LED strip lights are known for their flexibility, but abuse of the product will result in damage. Strip lights are unsuitable for bending, twisting and wrapping around angles, as this may cause the circuitry on the product to break.

Can I choose the colour of my LED strip lights?

Our strip lights come in a wide variety of colours and shades of white, allowing you complete control over your choice of lighting. They are available in cool, bright, warm or soft white as well as more colours such as red, blue, yellow and more.

Are LED strip lights as bright as my current lights?

LEDs are specifically designed to give you high-quality light in an energy-efficient way, making them a perfect alternative to your current lighting. What’s more, with our variation of white strip lights, you can choose whichever shade is best for you.

Can I use my LED strip lights in the bathroom?

Yes, but make sure you buy our waterproof strip lights so you can get the best out of them. LED lighting is very durable and their versatility means they can be used all around the home.

What are SMDs?

SMDs are Surface Mounted Diodes, the technology found in newer LED lights. SMDs are what allow our LED lights to emit brighter light and are what make the different shades of white offered by LED Flood Lights Co. possible.

Are LED strip lights suitable for the home?

LED strip lights work wonderfully in the home, with many choosing to use them in the kitchen and bathroom as well as other areas of the house and garden.

Are LED strip lights suitable for businesses?

LED strip lights have long been a popular fixture of businesses, and are a practical and attractive lighting solution for the workplace.

Will my LED strip lights work with a dimmer switch?

Like most LED lights from LED Flood Lights Co., our strip lights are fully dimmable. We also sell dimmer switches for you to purchase alongside you strip lights, but be sure to buy the right type of LED compatible dimmer switch.

Do my LED strip lights contain mercury?
